Squeaky Steering When Turning Left

Is this the start of the steering "klunk" I have read about? It seems the sound is coming from the steering shaft area where it goes through the firewall. Only does it when making small turns to the left mostly in one part of the turn. More irritating than anything. Anyone else have the squeak and does it turn into more problems. I attempted to grease it but so far haven't taken anything loose as far as covers at the firewall to gain better access. Thanks for any info.

No, it's not part of the clunk, but it is sort of common. My '00 Silverado does it and my dad's 01 Suburban does it. It has something to do with the horn ring from what I've been told.
