I got a kick out of this story...

(AP)

Jodee Berry of Panama City, Fla., sits with her toy Yoda at her lawyer’s office Wednesday. Berry, a former Hooters waitress, has sued the restaurant where she worked saying she was promised a new Toyota for winning a beer sales contest in April. Berry, 26, believed that she had won a new car, but she was blindfolded, led to a parking lot and presented a toy Yoda, the little green guy from Star Wars.

Easy Seabiscuit (), take a joke. I really hate when people sue out of pure greed and not for justice.

I remember when a radio station was giving away a "100 Grand." The guy wasn't too happy when he discovered they were only giving away a 100 Grand candy bar:

Opie and Anthony pulled that gag a long while back. The response it evoked from the dismayed "winner" was radio gold.

I've never sued anybody in my life, but I'd have sued them too.

That's underhanded and a really shi**y thing to do to an employee. Make them work hard for a specific goal in good faith of a reward, only to slap them in the face for a laugh.

Yeah...Even for a Toyota.

I have to agree. I can see sueing in this case, she worked hard for a reward she thought she was getting. In the case of the radio station, all he did was call a radio station number. Not very much work. If you set a goal like that I think what ever business it is should pay up with what the winner thought was being offered. If the business made it clear that she was getting a toy Yoda and not a toyota, then that is on her, she deserves the ensuing laughter.

I'm not sure how hard she worked for it, but this is good lesson for her... next time ask what type of vehicle it is. If I worked at Hooters and my boss said I'd get a toyota for selling the most drinks, THE FIRST thing I'd ask is what type of toyota. Then the manager would have to say the kind that is green and 12" tall.

She was never offered a Toyota vehicle, don't confuse this with an actual incentive based employee promotion. Its the Panama City Hooters having some fun.

I guess we just have different senses of humor, in my book, this is funny. (and don't feel to bad for her, I'm sure this gold-digger will take Hooters' corporate for a new car and damages for emotional distress)

Oh believe me I agree with the fact that she should have asked but she didn't and that isn't something you don in the workplace be it hooters or NASA. She outsold everybody else and I would think that would take some degree of work. I would be upset too if my boss did that to me. I don't know if I would be upset enough to sue, but I can guarantee I probably wouldn't be working there by this time next month. In a customer service job, it is hard enough dealing with patrons that can't understand the fact that even though I am here to serve you that doesn't mean that you should treat me like dirt. This woman is catching it from both ends. I couldn't and wouldn't take it.

This post is worthy. Please read my sig.

Yeah, from her perspective.... I definately feel her pain. I'd be very pissed if I went through all that work for nothing.

Then again, from my perspective... totally getting the Yoda joke... that's just d**n funny.

Most waitresses I've known aren't going to be turning up their nose at ANY free car. They're not going to look a gift horse in the mouth and start giving the management the 3rd degree before grabbing at the brass ring.

She never knew it wasn't an actual incentive based employee promotion.

While I love a good laugh, and carry a 3rd degree black belt in pun mastery...I can get my jollies without intentionally and premeditatively hurting another person.

My morning radio show discussed this the other day and I was busting up. The host, Rover, even described her pissed off look in that picture there nicely. I'd be cranked too, but I did get a chuckle out of hearing about it the other day.

I just noticed this, she looks like yoda. Maybe she didn't actually do any work, she just used the force: "You want to buy more beer".

Did you see her pic? She definitely did a LOT of work! :shakehead:
