Edge Evolution Installed

I got my Edge Evolution today and got it installed. Talk about an easy installation, took about 10 minutes. I haven't had a chance to play with it too much, so I can't go to into detail about performance gains. I had 3/4 of a tank full of 87, so I only uploaded the economy tune and it has made a difference so far. Shifting is much better, the lag at take-off is much reduced and it seems to stay in V4 mode more on the highway. I can't wait to get a tank of 91 in the truck and see what this will do. Below are some pics of the install where you can see how good this looks installed in the truck.

And here's a screen shot from the Horse Power calculator.Pretty good so far.

Thanks alot!!! I was just about to "pull the trigger" on one of these today, I called around and found the best price I can get it for around here is $435. Then I decided to go cut the grass and I kinda forgot about it. Now I have made my decision, it's getting ordered tomorrow. You just cost me $435!!! Feel free to Paypal me the money anytime.

If my wife says anything, I am blaming you!!!

How much did you pay for yours?

I know you said you haven't had much time to play, and congrats on your new unit...I'm very interested to see what kind of 0-60 times you are able to pull. Are you running a 5.3? And what gears do you have?

5.3L, 3.73, 4x4, Ext Cab Reg Bed.

I did a "run" last night. 0-60 in 4.5 seconds... lol. who would have though wet pavement would improve the performance of the truck?

Here's a view of the unit lit up with the dash, and also a video of the 1/4 mile run sequence (pretty cool if you as me).

Justin (or anyone else who knows?),

I am planning on buying the Edge real soon (next week). I like how it looks on the dash, however, my question is...can you disconnect it after loading the tune or does it need to stay connected? Also, is the pod easily removeable, how is it fastened in?

I guess I would like the option of having it on the dash like your pic shows, or having it removed and put away or left at home, with the tune still intact of course.

Thanks!

Yes, you can disconnect the Evolution after programming. I just went out and tried mine.

The pod is easily removeable. The front portion mounts under the lip of the A/C vent dash surround to hold it down.

The rear and side used locking Velcro with 3M Tape. The 3M Tape can leave residue on the dash when removed, but I figured out a solution to that with my old truck. You are supposed to use an alcohol swab to really clean the dash. I didn't do that and instead put down a really light coat of Meguirs Natural Shine. It's light enough that the adhesive will hold, but there is no residue left over when you remove the mounts.

Thanks for the info!!! That settles it, I'm ordering one this week.

I payed $380 + tax at Tru Motorsports here in Indiana ($402.80). Paul58 got his at the same place. Now, take into consideration I'm getting $50 cash back from Edge, I got my Evolution for $352.80.

I talked to a guy named Jorge. You might be able to work something out there. And if you're out of state, you shouldn't have to pay sales tax, so you should get it even cheaper.

And I just went out on a drive and lit both tires up from a dead stop on dry pavement and the rear end broke loose on the 1 - 2 shift. And this is only the 87 octane tune! I can't wait to burn this tank up and go with some 93.

Why do you have a check engine light on in this picture?

The engine is not running, thus the illuminated "Check Engine" light.

Did you ever get to do another 0-60 on something a little stickier?

Why yes I did. I also put a tank full of 93 in last night and went with the level 4 tune.

Results:

1/4 mile: 90mph @ 15.531 seconds

0 - 60 in 7.33 seconds.

sorry about the crappy cell phone pic.

Now this truck is bone stock except for the Edge tuner. I'm looking to get an Intake (Airaid, K&N, or Volant) and a Magnaflow Exhaust here soon. Can't wait to see what the truck will do with those mods.
