Looking At Getting An Acadia

We are looking at getting the GMC Acadia. Any suggestions? Our 02 Venture is getting up in age and this last oil analysis I just had done is showing coolant in the oil. That means it is either the intake gasket or head gasket again. It went bad on us at 30k and the warranty fixed it then but now with 114k it is all mine to fix.

Personally, I was dead set on getting a crossover from GM I would get the Enclave, but before I bought any of them, I would get a OBS Yukon, or Tahoe. I prefer truck based SUVs, but in the crossovers I think the Buick looks the best.

The Acadia is a great family vehicle. Safe, quiet, lots of room, descent power, etc. If you're looking for something to replace a minivan, go take one for a test drive, I'm sure you'll love it.

I drive an '07 NBS Sierra that I recently purchased when I traded my '01 Sierra, which was purchased in '01 with my '87 Sierra (I wasn't the first owner on that one!) so I guess you can imagine that I am pretty much a Sierra kinda guy. Anyway, we (my wife and I) had a bad experience with a Mercury back in '79 and since then she has disliked American cars. For many years she bought Toyotas, but when she decided she wanted an SUV, she bought a Honda Pilot. Well, this year she decided to get a new Pilot, but when she found that the '07 was pretty much identical to her '03, she started looking. After driving an MDX, Highlander and then an Acadia, she decided on the Acadia. This blew me away since she will not drive my truck so if we travel we always take her vehicle. Needless to say I am a happy camper since the Acadia shares the same controls, radio, etc. as my Sierra. If she thinks an Acadia competes with a rice-burner, it's got to be good.

I posted a similar question over in the Fullsize Light-Duty Truck forum and got a slew of replies--all positive, BTW, for the Acadia.

I think you will love the Acadia as compared to your Venture. I rented one on my business trip last week and it was very nice. It was smooth and comfy.

One thing I didnt like about it was that the 6 speed tranny shifted alot - but during my research - they seem to have a new computer flash to fix this problem. The 08's should already have it taken care of.

My wife was thinking about trading in her 'hoe for one - downsizing - but after driving it - we are sticking with the Tahoe for at least another year.

Well we went and got an 08 GMC Acadia and so far love it. The Bose system isn't to bad and it is nice to have the XM built in and not added on like we did in the Venture, way better sound. Found a ton of info on the Acadia.net forum.

The Red Jewel is a really nice color and I'm tempted to paint my 65 Impala that color.

Good color choice. I'm sure you'll enjoy your acadia (we've had ours for 5 months now)

My wife bought an Acadia SLT2 and she loves it. In fact, she chose it over the Enclave, which we easily could have afforded. I drove it tonight when we went out to eat--sure beats the old Pilot she had. I also like the fact that the buttons, instruments, A/C, radio, etc. are like in my truck.
