I ordered my x-calibrator last Monday, it just shipped today. Wait 4 me is literally wait 4 me.

Hope the programming is as good as everyone says then it will be worth the wait. What peeves me a tad is I asked in the payment details and called and talked to Jesse the next day and advised that I needed the programmer today, 9 days later. Now it will arrive after we pull out with the 5th wheel for vacation.

Got home from vacation today and checked the mail. Hoohoo, it's here.

Read the directions, pulled the on-star fuse which is id'd as info in the under hood fuse block. Hooked up the programmer, turned the key to on and it asks me "choose mod to apply" I choose performance and get an Error-ECM module not supported.

Then I cancel out and pull the programmer. key off and key on and I go into reduced power mode, rough idle and throwing DTC codes like crazy. I read the codes and clear them. Pull the battery for 5 minutes and all is normal again.

Going to call Jessy in the morning to find out what's going on.

What's up with pulling the On-Star fuse? I can switch back and forth between tunes al day long with my Edge and don't have to pull any fuses? In fact, I can switch from one program to another at a traffic light if need (and it's a long one) all I have to do is turn off the engine, have the key in the on or acc position and it's ready to go. I'd hate to have to pop the hood and pull a fuse every time I change tunes! Is there any explanation as to why the SCT requires the fuse be pulled?

something about onstar checking vehicle status or something every couple minutes, and if it does that while your changing programs, it could screw something up. Diablosport has you do the same thing...

I'm bummed, I was looking forward to stomping the neighbor guy in his Tundra. He's always talking crap about his stats.

Of course every time I bring the 5th wheel home I prove the superiority of my truck because he can't haul it :-)

Anyone know if you can leave the On Star fuse out? I don't subscribe because it's too expensive for what you get. I don't see a reason why not.

Pretty much doesn't matter but knowing GM there is probably some annoying light or other such thing that will tell me all about it.

I can report a positive. The DTC code reader and clearer works right. It gives you the code and meaning like, "P1518- IMRC Stuck Open B1". This message is bad and causes reduced engine power. If you haven't experienced reduced power mode it really sucks. It will get you home for sure but that's about it. Luckily I was at home.

Well jessy isn't answering the phone or email, probably on vacation.

I called SCT and they want the firmware level so I'll have to hook it up tonight an get the info that they want. He seems to think that it can be fixed over the phone via a software patch. If not back to jessy it goes, probably for good. Sounds like the edge programmer that paul58 will dothe job much easier.

He mentioned something about making sure the e-brake is on because every module has to be in idle state. The A/C, Radio, light control, everything has to be off yet the key is in run position. Go figure....

I'd say not but then again you might want to stand on one foot and whistle dixie while you swap them.

Don't forget the crank relearn.

OK, got the scoop from SCT engineering direct. IT WONT WORK.

Apparently i'm pretty lucky as I talked to an engineer at SCT, he advised that he has seen 03's smoke the PCM and other modules. My problems were at least minor in comparison to what they could've been. The problem is that GM changed chip manufacturers for this model year. The chips that they tried are very sensitive to flashing and the like and will smoke rather easily.

My work around is to get an 04 PCM and TCM, have them programmed with my VIN, install them, crank relearn then flash them. Too much work.

The programmer is being sent back today to jessy and i'm going to call EDGE engineering and get their version of the story.

What year truck do you have? The Edge Evo will only work with the NBS GMT-900 series trucks. As for all the hoops everyone else has to jump through to load a tune, I'm glad I got the Edge! I can have the radio on, don't have to pull any fuses, and no hopping on one leg while swinging a dead rat above your head! Just plug it in, turn the key to on, and program away! A have never had it fail to load and the truck has always cranked up without throwing any codes (knocking on a big ole oak tree as I type this!)...

Here's a pic of it installed in my truck, I just got the new pod yesterday!

The problem only affected 03 models. GM switched to Intel for the 03's and back to their regular manufacturer late in the 03 model year. Jesse and SCT advised that most of the 03 Intel PCM's were swapped out because customers had problems with them dieing. I never ran into that problem.

I just talked to jesse who is going to ship me an 04 PCM that will solve the problem. I'm not looking forward to dealing with the crank relearn but at least he's going to make things right.

I checked into Edge and they don't have a programmer for my truck. I looked at SuperChips and Predator and talked to a guy at Superchips who said, "No, the 03's are just like all the rest, don't worry, you'll be fine. Then I told him about SCT's comment and he seems to think that they're full of it. The guy at Predator has heard of the 03 issue. They did both advise that OnStar diags will mess up a flash when it randomly does it's diags. Most of the programmers now disable the modules to prevent this from happening and then power them back up which is why you get a light show during programming.

Will report when I get the new PCM.

Paul, that Edge mounted in the pod is really nice. The Pod makes it look like part of the truck instead of something just stuck in it. I wish Edge would consider going back a few years and not limit themselves to the 900s.

    • Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.
    • Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.
    • I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
    • Just wanted to get a idea of how many of you still have problems with your radio cutting out during the first few minutes of driving, my 2024 GMC Sierra still does this after a little over 2 years of complaining to my dealer about it, and OTA updates no longer complete, the check for updates in settings is greyed out for the second time while trying to install a update, my dealer took about a week to play around with it the first time this happened, and somehow got the check for updates to work, even though it would always show system is up to date when I knew it wasn't, now again 1 month later its greyed out again when the OTA update N25-F163BU tried to install, which ironically is the update to help with reliability of future updates.
