Climate Control Always Going To Outside Air

Recommended Posts

If I have the climate control on auto then it will kick on the fan full blast and cool everything down, it then gets to a point where is switches to outside air by itself. Very annoying as I do not want it to do that. So I press the recirc button and it stays on that until I turn the truck off and back on again.

So I stopped using the auto mode and control the fan manually but it still switches to the outside air by itself. I almost never want the outside air as we have a lot of cars from Mexico that smell really bad due to low quality gas, poor maintenance, and little to no smog regulations. Also diesel trucks, agriculture, etc.

I understand that you should not keep it on recirculate all the time as moisture can build up and cause mildew but this is very annoying and I want to know if there is a way to program or do something difference than what I am doing to have it stop changing the air source on me.

Well I have the same issue  I don't think we can program AC Buttons. Did you try calling ON Star...?

What would OnStar have to do with that? I didn't think they were tech support. My guess would be the same as yours, that it can't be changed, live with it.

That's pretty much how all the GM auto AC units I've seen function. Just sorta does whatever it wants. If anybody has a way to change that, I'd be interested to know.
