Nbs Leveling Kit

I'm thinking about a front end kit from rough country, I see they sell them in 1.5 and 2" Anybody have any pictures of either heights?

Also does it affect ride. mileage, etc??

I don't have any pictures but I just ordered the 1.5" kit,Its just what I was looking for.I have a set of 2" coil spacers but I kinda' thought 2" was just a little too much so I never installed them, plus I like the idea that the Rough Country's kit goes under the strut instead of on top.

I agree, It looks a lot easier install with the kit under the strut, it still doesn't preload the spring any so the ride should stay the same. Post some pics when you get it installed.

Yes,The ride should definetly stay the same,Which is good for me because I like the way it rides now,And I can't see the mileage changing any either.

You just have to get an alignment when your done.

I just installed the 2" Rough Country kit myself and haven't noticed a difference in ride or an appreciable difference in mileage. Without driving the exact roads under exact conditions it's hard to tell for certain, but I haven't noticed anything different on the MPG so far and that includes some highway driving too. I was torn between the 1.5" and 2" kits after hearing some of these guys concerned about their trucks sitting a little higher in the front but this kit is perfect, does not raise it too high, and was a cinch to install. Removed the upper ball joint and loosened the sway bar bushings, undid the lower strut bots and loosened the top. Installed the spacers and then worked in reverse. Be ready to grab the ball joint stud below the nut with some Vise-Grips when putting things back together as it'll want to spin a little bit but that was the toughest part of the install. I'll try to get some pics later today and post them this evening. I did get an alignment and asked the guy to give me the details. He actually said it would have driven fine without but the toe was in just a bit. You'd definitely get some tire wear without an alignment. Sucks that the alignment cost more than the lift!

Give me a few minutes and I'll get those looked up on GM-Dealerworld for us.

Alright here they are...

UPPER BALL JOINT NUT-37 lb.ft.

OUTER TIE ROD (STEERING LINKAGE) END NUT-44 lb.ft.

UPPER STRUT MOUNT NUT-37 lb.ft.

LOWER STRUT MOUNT NUT-37 lb.ft.

SWAY BAR END LINK NUT-17 lb.ft.

WHEEL LUG NUT-140 lb.ft.

GM also recommends applying new 242 Loctite on the sway bar end link threads/nut.

Do you think the dealer would install the kit for me? I want one, just not sure how to do it... and I'm thinking if I have them do it, they will honor all warranty stuff.

I don't see why they wouldn't,We would,Plus you can have them align the truck at the same time right then and there and be done!

i pull a boat quite a bit and hooked it up after the kit was installed and it still looked ok. didn't take a picture though.

07-Z71.... if you have a buddy to help you and follow this tip from 96vette like I did it's not a big deal at all. having air tools helps a lot though. "Well the kit came today and what a easy install (didnt follow the directions) all I had to do was remove the wheels take the 2 bolts out of the bottom of the struts lossen the sway bar nut all the way to the top pushed down on the "A" arms and slid the spacer in, hardest part was lining the holes up. Both sides from start to finsh took me 45 minutes to a hour. The directions said to break the upper ball joints loose and the tierod ends, didnt have to do that. The reason I went with this kit is that it is a easy removal if I need to take the truck back to the dealer to have something fixed in that area. Now it looks alot better sitting level. Also I turned the headlight angle 4 complete turns down, clockwise turns. "

You know I kicked that around myself,The thing about the Rancho kit (besides the price!) that I didn't like is that they couldn't give me an exact amount of the lift,They say anywhere from 1 to 2.5",thats a pretty broad range,I didn't want the front to be higher than the back,I mean I could always take it to the local spring shop to have them add a leaf to raise it up an 1" but I don't want to do that,I like the way it sits in the back and don't want it any higher.

I do like the fact that you can adjust the ride comfort (soft to hard) with the nine settings, you can also get shocks for the rear with the nine position adjustment.

You know,I read the directions online and I kinda' though you could get away without breaking them loose, that'll save sometime and work right there alone!

Thanks for the comfirmation on that, hopefully I'll be able to do the same thing.
