Tahoe: Broken Rear Gate Handle

so the girlfriend brought back my tahoe tonight telling me how the lever/handle that opens the lift gate "just popped". i looked at it, and its just hanging there loose. It looks like one of the "bolts" snapped off underneath the handle.

 

Is this common? is it an easy fix? It's an 06' tahoe just over a year and a half old, but its over the 36k millage warranty.

My vote: bring it to the dealer and see if they will cover it under warranty. Or call GM Regional and see. Sometimes, they will cover minor things (and some times major things) if you are just out of warranty. It can't hurt to try right?
