I guess I ll have to answer the question. If you had the option you would find it a little distracting until you get use to it, which is happening. So I can remove it with the pcm tune but unless there was a way to unplug something I ll leave it for now. I don t believe it save much fuel either(maybe 1 MPG under the perfect conditions. I can feel it shift modes but Im sensitive :idiot:

Nothing can be unplugged its in the engine & PCM and 1 MPG is a big improvement even 1/10 mpg is an improvement at todays prices.

I'm just going to remove mine with a PCM tune. It doesn't turn on that often in the city (too much stop and go) or on the highway (it won't switch at speeds above 120 kph, too much aerodynamic drag), and when it does turn on I really feel it.

I honestly can't see it saving me that much money because the instant economy display is saying V8 mode most of the time. I'd rather improve the throttle response of the truck because I can DEFINITELY feel a lag when I hit the gas in V4 mode. It pauses, groans, suddenly reads V8 mode and starts to move.

And if I was concerned about economy I would have bought an accord. I want this truck to be loud and to haul ass.

Danman, I think he dealer may be able to adjust some of the afm if it s going in too much or not enough :D U n less your sure your going to remove it.

It's definitely going, I just don't know when. I'd like to get a tuner and eliminate it asap but I'm waiting for a MagnaCharger supercharger kit for the 6.0, at which point I'm going to quickly grab that and the included tune will dump the AFM anyhow.

My AFM turns on/off about 5-10 times a minute, and is VERY annoying. I actually believe mine is COSTING ME MILEAGE.... I say this because In v8 Mode I'm reading 20mpg, then it goes into v4 mode for 3-4 seconds, then drops back into V8 mode. Once it drops back into V8 mode the instant economy drops to 14 mpg, then slowly climbs back up to 20 mpg. Once it hits 20, BAM back into V4 mode again for 3-4 seconds. It's sort of a cycle. I routinely only get 16 mpg on the highway when this happening...

Every now and them, my AFM seems to be disabled some how, and will never turn on for hundreds of miles as long as I don't turn the truck off.. On those tanks of gas, I actually get about 1/2 mpg better.

Any pointers? Can the dealer really adjust things for me?

Did anyone notice that when you put the gear selector into 3 that the afm never comes on? I was driving down the highway to my house in 3 instead of drive and noticed that the usual spots the v4 mode kicks on never did come on. It stayed in 8 the whole time. I even drove fast to let it coast and it still didn't go into v4. Anyone else notice that or is it just me?

It's funny you mention that. I just noticed it two days ago. I think my truck actually gets better gas mileage according to the DIC when I leave it in 3rd when cruising around town.

I also played around with the tow haul button(when in "D"), and once the truck shifted into 3rd gear I'd turn on the tow haul. This would keep the truck in 3rd gear until about 53 mph. V4 mode would stay on almost constanty when testing this out.. It would even stay on when going up hill. It worked flawlessly at around 45 mph ( 3rd gear and V4 mode ).

I have to agree with you about the better mileage in third. I kept thinking this can't be right. I will have to try the tow haul button out. I am sure there are little tricks to this AFM we just haven't learned yet.
