Grille Saver/bull Bar-westin,smittybilt-which One?

OK, I never heard 'em called a grille saver before but that's what they're calling the Smittybilt one in the newest 4 Wheel Parts catalog. In same catalog a few pages later, they call the Westin version "The Ultimate Bull Bar".

 

I've also found an Aries brand for sale on the local craigslist that looks rather similar to both the other brands. It's got a couple driving lamps already attached. The Smittybilt comes in black and in stainless. The Westin in black and polished chrome. The Aries looks to be chrome. About the biggest difference between the three is the skid plates. I don't much care for the black look.

 

So anyways, I'm thinking of buying one of these things. I've only seen pics-none in real life. Anybody here got either version of the above? How about opinions, likes, dislikes, whatever-it's all welcome. Just looking for some feedback before making a decision.

do you have tow hooks and do either variants remove them permanently ??

I do have tow hooks and will ask the Aries owner about interference.

 

It looks like they are covered over in the pics.

 

Have no idea about about the other two brands.

 

FWIW, I haven't used the tow hooks since I got the truck but sure as Murphy's Law if I cover them up I'll wish I hadn't.

Not sure which exact models you are looking at, but I have the Smitty chrome one on my 04'. I think it was called the Outland Sport? Anyways, that one lets you keep your tow hooks. I can post pics if need be or can email. I put off road KC lights on mine.
