Noise In Steering Column

I have a 2003 Yukon. I noticed this morning that when I cranked the vehicle, there was a sound like gears turning in the area of the steering column. It seemed like it lasted only a few seconds and it stopped when all the gauges went where they were supposed to go. When I cut the vehicle off, you could hear the same noise.

 

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
