CB Antenna Install

Finally installed a CB and antenna on my truck.  I got the idea for the mount from SoMnDMAX and a post over at The Diesel Page.  While the mount I fabricated is no where near as nice as SoMnDMAX's, it works and is out of sight.  

 

 

Should have gone with a black antenna.  I though white would blend in with the background better.  Oh well...

 

 

I added a quick disconnect so the antenna wouldn't get bashed by the garage everyday.  I also tried a 2 foot antenna but couldn't get the SWR below 3.  The SWR on this 3 foot Firestik is 1.5 on channels 1 & 40, and 1.1 on channel 19.  Not too shabby.

 

 

A die grinder made easy work of notching that plastic piece.  Almost looks OEM.

 

 

Sorry, no pic of mount before install.  This gives some idea how bracket was mounted.

 

The CB is a Cobra 75WXST that I got from Valco Electronics.  I mounted it forward of the console, under the dash, beside the heater duct.  It's out of sight except for two pop rivets (no pic).  I like the 75WXST and having all the controls on the mike.

Looks good Chief.  That is a great place for another antenna.
