What brand/model of controller? What year truck is the harness for?

Its a Tekonsha controller and the harness is for a 1999-2002 GM........my truck is a 2000.

Same thing happened on my 05. I must have touched one of the hot wires and blew the 40 amp pink fuse. No power to the controler. Check all of the big fuses that are in the 1st row. More than one of them have something to do with the electric brakes.

Don

Checked all those fuses and all are fine.

I took the test light to the plug under the dash where I plugged in the wiring harness for the brake controller......I have no power going to the 'TRAILER 6-WAY BRN' plug under the dash which is where I plugged the harness into.....there is the second plug next to that one called 'SEO 6-WAY BLK'..this one is in the top right corner of the black box where these plugs are.

Am I plugging my trailer wiring harness in the correct plug???

Yep,Sounds like your plugging it into the right plug.

I started to second guess myself and thought that maybe I dont have the trailer/tow package............but I have the tow/haul mode on my gear selector and I have the Z85 RPO code which I believe is the trailering code.

Dont know where to go from here.

So any ideas why I would not have power at that plug?

Z82 is the H.D. trailering pkg. code....Z85 is the "handling/trailering" suspension code.

Oh....I thought Z85 was.

I dont have Z82 in my RPO codes in glove box.

Is there also another RPO code for model year 2000 for trailering package?

Do you think its possible that I have the tow/haul mode and the aux tranny cooler, and not have the trailering package???

Yes,The TOW/HAUL feature is standard on all GMT800 & GMT900 trucks,It dosen't matter if you have Z82 or not.

You could also have the tranny cooler without the trailering package,Look for RPO code KNP,this is the code for the cooler,or someone could have added it as an accessory.

Well I dont have KNP RPO either......looks like someone added the tranny cooler...............which I suppose could be a good thing........its looks like a beefy cooler.

So its starting to be apparent that my truck does not have the trailering pkg, hence no power to the controller.

Now how the heck do I hook up the controller??????

I appreciate all you help MS3DALE!!!
