Fellow Evo-ites..

I spoke with Edge tech support this morning - there is a updated ECM program with todays date of 10/11 waiting for us

( Hopefully with my missing ECM code )

Awesome Thanks for the info.

Geese, I just updated mine several days ago to the 10/04 update, and the truck is still learning the new update...

Today the truck threw a P000 code.. Have no idea what that is, but I only have 120 miles since I flashed the new update into the truck. The Edge Evo doesn't know what the code means either.... I contaced tech support and the guy told me he had no clue, and to just clear the code and then install the new 10/11 update. We'll see.

Not sure what's new in this week's update, but I'll find out as soon as my wife gets home with the Denali. Edge releases updates every Wednesday afternoon, so this isn't a real "shock" per se... Sometimes they release updates on other weekdays as well, but it's a good bet that on a Wednesday afternoon if you connect your Evo to your PC and launch Lightning that it'll find and allow you to download an update. What I'm really looking for is a 6-speed transmission program w/ custom options like the rest of the fully-supported powertrains. Also, like has been mentioned elsewhere, it'd be nice if we could just check a page on the website or something to see what the update includes before we connect the Evo to the PC and get too excited...

Cheers!

Anyone else notice a significant performance increase with the latest update? I have no idea if it was the update or the conditions (high 40's temp) but I just updated my Evo today and went and did a few 0-60 runs cuz it seemed a bit peppier. Previously, my best 0-60 time was 7.17 secs. I just recorded the following times: 6.66, 6.49, 6.69 and 7.12. The 7.12 was with powerbraking, the others were from a normal launch. Maybe the key is NOT to powerbrake to minimize "Abuse Mode"??? But previously, I tried both methods and still could only get a best of 7.17. I about $hit when I saw the 6.66, then the 6.49...I was like "Wow!!!" That would give the Blundra a run for it's money.

PS This was running the Extreme tune on 92 Octane.

Hey Jeff,

What kind of 1/4 mile times are you running? Does it feel like there has been any improvements on the TM? Chad

Haven't done any 1/4 mile runs yet. I need to get out into the country to do that. Don't feel like going 95 MPH in town here, I like my driving priviledges...LOL But I will one of these days.

TM, Abuse mode, and PE Delay (launch lag) are still there, but much better and once out of the hole, she screams like a mofo. I can break my tires (w/ 20" wheels) loose from a stop now without powerbraking. Not huge burnouts, but they chirp pretty good, and that's with the G80 locker. Definitely better than stock, no question about it. What's really improved is the lag when accelerating while at speed, that sucked and really pissed me off. That is MUCH improved now. Like I said before though, you don't "punch it" with these drive-by-wire systems, it is better to only push it as much as you need to maximize acceleration. It takes a bit of experimenting to learn the optimum rate.

I had just reloaded the Extreme mode today. I had tried out the Economy mode for about 3 weeks. It helped some on the MPG, but, I just like the poer too much to keep it that way for long! LOL! I did not know about this new update until tonight, so I jsut updated the programmer and will load it tommorrow. You're right about getting into the throttle, it takes some practice to get the throttle to react properly without kicking the TM into effect. Just have to keep working at it to get it perfected.

i purchased the edge from Trumotorsports prior to the rebate cut off - tried to load the evolution but was missing 1 of the 8 ECM codes - e-mailed them the missing code

and thankfully i got the truck tuned to the tranny mode - lets see how that works out

YES, after loading the the update the truck seemed much more aggressive so I tryed a 0-60 run this morning coming home from work. HOLY SH!T was I surprised, my previous best was a 6.49 with intake and extreme tune (90 degrees out). I now have added a Magnaflow cat back single exit to the mix. With 3/4 tank of gas 3400 miles on the odometer and traction control on my first run was a 5.69 in disbelief I ran again and the truck pulled a 5.67 out of it's a$$. I had not run the truck with the new exhaust before the update so I am not sure what the greatest gain came from but I did notice an increase in seat of the pants after I installed the Magnaflow. I am headed to the track this friday evening to see what she can do! The more this truck breaks in the funner it gets :bs:

I already had my truck custom tuned, but after reading through the edge products website and instruction manual i think i'm going to try it. The custom tune is nice, but i want the ability to change my octane ratings, and transmission shift points myself, also the ability to change my speed limiter without having to mail my pcm in.

I talked to the guys at edge support and they said it would be fine to use the evo with my custom tune. They said it would store my custom tune and upload one of theirs, and i could change things to my likings with the evo.

Wow!!! a 5.67!?!?!? That's Vette territory, or beating almost anything on the road territory. I can't believe it's not breaking the tires completely loose.

I wouldn't say it's vette territory (owned an 03) but it does run good. Figure a new Tundra runs 0-60 in 6.0 14.9 in the 1/4, so I would expect a modded VMAX to be in the mid to upper 5's !? That equates to approx 14.7 give or take in the quarter mile? As for traction the truck will spin the wheels with the Traction control off but with it on it just chirps a little and is gone! :banghead:

A Tundra will only do 0-60 in 6.0 in Reg cab form....maybe!!!! A Crewmax (Crewcab) 0-60 time is about 6.5 secs.

I am guessing you are in the upper 5's and I am in the mid 6's due to your 4.10's and 17" wheels. I have 20's and 3.73's.
