I personally go for the yellow tops. Supposedly they are more apt to handle a full discharge and recharge better (as are the blue tops). Haven't added the plow yet, but I run a winch failry consistently on my HD, along with 100W O/R lights, Viair 380C air compressor, 6 strobe heads and led undercover bar, and a slew of stereo equipment. In general you are wise to get away from the stock battery though, and since it's already paid for - run it.

You may want to put the big alternator in if you don't already have it to assist in the rebound. If you have the snowplow prep package from factory Ithink it's included.

A couple of years ago I had a a 84 Chevy silverado 3/4 ton single cap long bed and it had a red top on it and it plowed really well. I think that I did replace a solenoid though in one season. It also plowed well because that truck was manual you know the old 3 speed with the granny gear. haha
