Bed Caps - Yea Or Nah?

Recommended Posts

I am ordering a hard cover for my GMT-900. I was wondering if there are any recommendations on whether bed caps should be installed prior to having the cover installed.

All thoughts are appreciated.

I have the GM caps on my 2000 Sierra and love them. I thought all new trucks came with them, if not, I recommend looking to see if the OEM caps are available for the GMT-900 pickups.

Also, I recommend against the hard plastic bed rail covers. I had the wade caps on my GMC for a while and they ended up cracking and looking pretty bad in no time.

Yes, I know. I would install them first, most hard tonneaus will scratch the paint on the top of the bedsides while the truck is in motion.

Again, I recommend the softer type OEM style caps if they are available on the GMT900 trucks over the hard plastic type.

If the cap is coming off and on frequently, I'd put them on. But if it's going on and staying on...I wouldn't bother.

Thanks! I usually have the cap off my trucks at aleast 3-4 times a year. I had a spray-in bed liner over the rail previously. I've opted for a bed rug this time around.

In that case, I'd put the rails on.

I'm pimpin' the Bedrug myself. :)

My recomendation is for you to go with what you think looks the best. All you'll get here is what we like, you paid for it, you dress it up how you like!
