9.5 MPG is low for that truck on the highway when empty. I would expect 14-16 MPG's under those conditions.

The 265's are not the stock size tires for that truck, so if you didn't add in the calculations for the larger tires, then you milage was a little better than what you figured, but not as good as it should have been.

I agree. From everything I have read in here 12 MPG is about the lowest anybody is getting (highway) with your setup.

When I had my 6.0 2500 it would get 13 on the highway and about 9-10 around town unloaded.

i would settle for 13,gonna change plugs and wires this week to see if that helps

Congrats! '02 is the last great model year IMHO.

Sorry to all you NBS guys.

Anyways, the first thing I would do is run some sea-foam in the oil to de-carbonize the engine, sea-foam in the fuel, sea-foam in the throttle body (I'm doing this now... wish I didn't wait!) and change the plugs.

FYI, I get 14mpg average, almost 18 on the highway and somewheres between 8-10 in the city. I bought my '02 with only 34k on it so I'm just now getting around to doing engine maitenence, should have started sooner...

PS: Change all your fluids too. Diffs, coolant, t-case, tranny, etc... 5 years is old when you don't know how it was maintained.

The 6.0L is a monster! :dunno:
