I've been looking at a lot of parts listings lately for upgrades and it asks me if i have a 1500 or a 1500HD. How do i know if i have an HD or not? Its a 2006 V-Max with towing package. It has 4.10 gears, a G80 locker, external oil cooler (KC4) and tranny cooler (KNP). It also has RPO codes M70 (4-speed auto), NHT (V-Max performance package). Is M70 the 4L80E? And is this a 1500HD?

Thanks for any info

Not an HD. If it was it would be like the one in my sig. The 1500HD is basically the 2500LD. That is what I was told anyway.

EDIT: Realized you can't see the lettering on my door. If it was a 1500HD it would say 1500HD on the door. The 1500HD is a totally and completely different truck. (well as completely as the two can be) It is like the difference between the 2500LD and 2500HD back a few years ago. They shared some parts, but the 2500HD was a big step up from the 2500LD.

No,You do not have an "HD".

And the M70 is a 4L70-E transmission.

What you have is a darn nice truck but not an HD.

This is what the 1500 HD emblem looks like.

HD has 8 lugs and regular 1500 has 6 doesn't it?

OK, so 1500HD's and 2500HD's both have 8 lug, the fromt IFS is the same, both have 4 wheel disk. So what is the differance in suspension from the 1500HD to the 2500HD?

An extra leaf spring too. I don't think the frame is that much stronger in the 2500HD's vs. 2500's the extra leaf and full floating rear increase the CC.

I think the front section of the frame is different. This is a provision for the optional D-Max Allison. I think this is why the front end sits 2" higher on the HD. You can always see one coming because of the 2" spacer between the bumper and lights.
