Driver Door Armrest

OK, few get crank windows. I test drove one and the driver door armrest is rock solid hard. I also drove one with power windows - a different armrest - and although this one is softer, it is still rock solid hard.

 

Anyone else notice this?

Nope. Left hand is usually on the wheel and my right arm rests on the console.

The armrests are a little on the hard side.

My 1990 1500 has padded armrest. Some sort of thin foam vinyl clad padding.

 

My neighbor has a base model extended cab 2001 with manual transmission. His armrests are padded.

 

The new ones no padding. I understand it's a cost and weight cutting matter. I think the high end GMC/Chevrolet trucks have a different armrest. With padding.

If it bothers me, I can always get different armrests put in. My arm is never on the door armrest. Now the 2007 NBS WT center console (where the driver's right arm rests), I wish I could change that right now.
