Wheels And Tires On 1500hd

Hey all,

I own an 02 1500HD. I am looking to put aftermarket wheels and tires on it. I have a few questions. I am looking at getting the black pro comp rock crawler wheels with probably some nitto terra grapplers. What backspacing do I need? I can get either 4 inch or 4.25. And what size tires would I be able to clear by just cranking the t-bars. Will 285's fit with the 16X8 rims or do I have to stick with 265's. Thanks for the help.

Below is my truck with those exact wheels (not sure the backspacing, but 4wheelparts.com knew what I needed) and 285 tires.

 

Not sure if it would be much different that your 1500hd.

 

I turned my bars 4 complete turns on each side and trimmed a ton of plastic-mainly because I wanted to keep the Chevy dealer installed mud flaps on there). When I took it to be aligned, there was no need to even change anything.

Two things:

 

1) Even though Stratosman got away with not needing an alignment, do at least go to a shop to get it checked.

2) I seriously doubt that there is a difference in backspacing between the 2500HD and 1500HD. Remember it is essentially the same truck as the 2500LD, and those two trucks (2500HD and 2500LD) shared quite a few components.
