Shock Upgrade

Looking for suggestions to replace the soft stock shocks/ride on my 2005 GMC Crew 2WD. 95% of my driving is around town, I may be pulling a 18 ft boat from time to time. Shock Wharehouse is suggeting the Bilstien Heavy Duty. They sound a bit much and are pricey as well. I guess I am looking for something economical as well.

My last truck had Edelbrocks, which I highly recommend. With my current truck I just installed Bilstein HD's and am thoroughly pleased. Good shock and economical shock is a contradiction in terms and I have a pair of new Monroes in the trash to prove it.

Are you mainly on the road? I am afraid of getting to stiff of a ride if that is possible....

I'm on the road and city...no off road stuff. I carry light to moderate loads, but is unloaded most of the time. The Edelbrocks give a smooth ride on the freeway and control over bumps. The Bilstiens seem to have slightly more stiffness but still ride good on the freeway...rides VERY good with a load.

I had Edelbrocks on my old trucks and loved them. On my 02 crew cab I went with the Bilstien Heavy Duty. I purchased them on ebay for $250 for all 4.

The Bilstiens are very good but do not give me the smooth ride on the highway that the Edelbrocks did. Very good shocks but not quite as smooth.

Do you remember which Edelbrocks you had?

KYB Monomax

Agreed. I put a set on my little Nissan Hardbody Pickup and made a huge improvement in ride and handling. Looking to do the same for the Yukon.
