Anyone with an Extended Cab with an 8 foot bed?

I am curious as to how you like it and if you have any situations where parking is a problem. Or any other thoughts about this long truck.

I've seen that they offer one in GMT900 trucks but I haven't ever seen one.

I saw one but was never in it. It was/is my uncle's company truck. Wouldn't that be around the size on a CC/RB? (my truck wasn't around when I saw it, so I couldn't make any comparisons.)

Yeah it would be comparable to a CC with 6'5" bed. I think those are still only available in 2500's?

I test drove a ECLB, seemed a little longer actually than my 2500 CCRB. The wheelbase is about 4" longer on the ECLB (157.5 vs 153).

That must tow pretty nice with that long wheelbase?

It'd be pretty stable going down the highway but it'd suck for backing up short trailers...My ECRB is a lot easier to back up my double jetski trailer and the company 8x12 tandem axle.

I use to tow alot with a F350 crew cab and a 8' bed. It towed great, but backing up a 24' car trailer in a small lot, well that was alot of fun. If you want a full size bed go for it!

My 86 Bronco was the champ at backing up trailers...With a 105" wheelbase I had no problem putting trailers in tight spots.

Extended cab long bed.

I was just wondering if those who actually purchased and drove one of these if they would purchase this very long truck again. And their experiences with parking and such. Parking garages, parking lots, driveway, garage, etc.

And the reason why those who have one why they purchased this long truck.

Thanks.

Yes I have the 07 Serria NBS and it is great. I would forget about trying to park in tight city spaces, but is fine for me out in the burbs. I tow a 12ft, 3500lb trailer every day and you can hardly feel it back there. I am in the mowing/landscaping buisness and needed the long bed for supplies and the ext. cab is nice to store tools and things like that.

I have the 2500HD Ext Cab 8ft bed. It is definately long!! I specifically purchased it to be able to carry my entire family in one vehicle when required (multiple weekeneds per month), and also for the 8ft bed capacity for hauling stuff to/from/on my land. I would purchase this again, however the downsides are:

* Check it fits in your garage. Mine barely fits with about 8" to spare. I knew this when I purchased it.

* Turning circle is wider - don't try to short circuit corners, and sometimes three point turns are required to turn.

* Parking is tougher, and I prefer to park in the center space of three open spaces. I would not like to parallel park this.

* Driving in tight spaces requires more concentration on all sides because of the above.

In general as long as you remember its length (and width) and drive accordingly (not zipping around car parks) it is no problem.

My 96 K1500 is an ext-cab long bed (which is pretty rare for a 1500) turning radius is HUGE, probably even bigger then the NBS trucks since I'm sure they have imptroved it somewhat in 11 yrs. If I had to do it all over again I'd get a CC 6 1/2 ft. bed. Definately gotta plan where you park and I purposely avoid going certain places with it just cause there are places it just won't make it. And some people will not give you a break, cause they are too thick headed to realize you have a big looong truck and need some extra room to manuever or and extra back and forth to get out of a spot.
