Started And Died, Now Cranks But Won't Start Help!

I have a 97 1500 with 92000 miles that was running fine, went to start it and it started but instantly died showing the check guages and battery light on the dash. I went to start it again but it will only turn over but not fire. What could be the problem? Any help is appreciated.

sounds like the fuel pump when mine went it did the exact same thing

check to see if the fuel pump is running

I assume that the 97 has the fuel pump in the tank. Sometimes, as the fuel pump motor gets older, it will get a bad spot on the communtator. By tapping the tank with a rubber hammer, or rocking the truck you might get it to move just enought to hit a good spot. It's a long shot, but very easy to try.
