Intake/exhaust Setup

Hey Everyone,

I was looking at adding an intake system and exhaust to my 2004 Sierra 5.3L Crew Cab. For the Intake I was thinking about the K&N FIPK Cold Air Intake Kit, I have read some stuff off of several sites but I was what anyone who has this or heard anything about this thinks about it (Good? Bad?). Also, I was looking at getting a Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow and dumping it behind the rear axle, I have heard both negative and positive things about this as well so I was again looking for some first hand opinions.

Thanks,

David W.

for an intake i would recommend a closed unit w/ a dry filter....AEM, GM Performance, Volant, Outlaw. As for the exhaust, if you just weld in a new muffler, sound is really the only benefit.

I had the Flowmaster cat back system in my '02 Tahoe. All the cat back systems say there is some horsepower gain since the bends in the pipes are done on a mandrel press. This keeps the bends consistent...a 3" pipe is 3" through the bends. A standard pipe is smaller at the bends thereby reducing flow. Also, the mufflers in the cat back systems are less restrictive, internally. Less restriction = more flow = more horsepower, minimal as that may be.
