Tonneau Covers

I am in the market for a hard tonneau cover and found this one from BAK-flip that is basically what I had in mind. Does any one here have any experience with these or seen them used. I am not looking for a soft cover because of the noise they cause, especially with the sliding rear window open. And like the access these appear to have. Below is their website if you have not seen these.

Thanks for the input, seems most of you have been around the block.

Funny you mention a Bakflip today. I just spent the past weekend replacing the weatherstriping on my Bakflip in a vane attempt to stop it from leaking. This product is junk if you need to use the truck in the rain. Leaked like a sive since new. What they did is mount each plastic panel inside an aluminum box frame. It will leak water between the plastic and the aluminum frame. Have tried sealing from the outside with floor sealer, works for a short time but the panels expand & contract with changes in temperature which breaks any seal. The Bakflip is secure but absolutely useless if you need to keep the contents of the bed dry. I am very close to e-baying this POS and replacing with a soft tri-fold.

I am going with snugtop color matched hard tonneau cover.

My only concern is that black piece on the rear they have to remove it.

I like the way it sets the back off, kinda looks like a spoiler.

Any suggestions?

I have a bak-flip. I wouldn't say it is terrible, but I would definitely check out other covers. The only reason I got this cover was because I got it for what a soft tonneau cover costs (guy won it as part of a race prize, but it was not the correct size for his truck).

While it does not keep out all water, it does a fair job. The drains are a PITA to route. Some of the hardware is starting to rust on the underside. Mine doesn't sag (maybe cause it's a crew cab, i.e. very short bed), but I have heard of others complaining about this. I do like the fact that the cover folds up against the back window with air springs to hold it in place so you can carry tall items in the bed. It does not have it's own lock. You must drop the tailgate to open it so with a bully or pop-lock tail-gate lock you get some security.

Let's just say I would NOT buy the bak-flip cover for full price. I got it for less than 1/2 price so for me it was a good deal. I've heard good things about fold-a-cover, but I have no personal experience with them. The retractable hard-covers (like retrax) look awesome, but wow are they expensive.

I really like my undercover. It is strong, light and almost completly water tight.

Seems like the following:

BAK-flip is not very water resistant and does not seem to be the best bang for the buck.. :rollin:

I don't really want a full tilt cover because of the fit and PITA factor up front.

And a good response for the undercover so will look into that.

Need to keep looking for now.

SO ANY MORE SUGGESTIONS??????

I mentioned fold-a-cover. Those are well liked on this site.

Seems to me Extang solid fold and fold-a-cover both fit the bill. But is the weather kept out in the hing areas? Guess I need to find out what the pricing is on these things.

Good suggestions so far. Still up in the air but at least have some better options so far. I do like the idea the cover can be locked but if it can not be opened with the tailgate down, the a lock there will work.

Thanks for all the suggestions, any more are welcome.

For a folding cover that has hard-top security and less likely to leak, look at a Torza-top. It's a tri-fold soft top with a hard plastic liner and secures from the underside.
