Trailer Wiring Harness For 2008 Silverado?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2008 Silverado 1500.

I need to find the wiring harness and plug that attaches to the factory wiring provisions that are behind the bumper. OEM or aftermarket is fine (part numbers would be a great help).

I can't seem to find a straight answer and I know I'm not the only guy to buy a truck without the tow package.

Should I just order the OEM hitch that comes with the harness?

The only thing I'm set on right now is the Hayden #679 trans cooler going in next week.

Thanks

GM Part#15932302 is what your looking for.

That will go on the left-hand side of your license plate, where the "dummy" receptacle is now.

Awesome, thanks.

I was never able to find the part when I was looking for it. But there is a hoppy 7 blade setup that has the direct plug in the back. the only problem is that it does not lock into the receptacle. You have to drill four small holes in the bumper surrounding the receptacle. The picture shows you a rough estimate of the hole location. I got mine from either PepBoys or Advanced auto for like $15.

Go here http://www.trailerwiring.com/ and look at part number 47575. There will be four small holes at the corners. I can put a picture of mine later today in my garage.

Another reason why the $300 tow package is money well spent.

I don't know about that, I got the hitch and plug receptacle for $160 direct from GM and installed it myself pretty quickly.

Tow package also includes tranny cooler and high-capacity air filter. Installation too. :sigh:

Hmm... I got the high capacity air filter with my truck, but I don't think I got a tranny cooler.
