Need help on 05 GMC sierra, HD2500 4x4 6 liter auto. 106,000 miles.

Background, Truck was starting to idle a little rough recently, as well power was falling off but still impressive. Unit was due for new plugs so took to techs for replacement and fuel filter, Fuel filter was in the tank "gm lifetime filter".

When I left the shop truck ran rougher than ever and check engine light flashing and steady.

Took it back to shop as I though bad plug or wire, diagnostics showed a severe misfire in cylinder 2, show the cylinder was dead, We checked plugs, wires, and coil. all good.

Tech shut off the injector to # 2 cylinder and no change, Shut off cylinder 1 and got way worse.

Oh, there is no smell of fuel at all on the plug, rotten egg smell at the exhaust, and an O2 sensor error on that side also. When we pulled the new plug out it had never been fired.

We could feel the injector clicking just no fuel appeared to be getting through at all.

So we figure injector is totally blocked.

QUESTION.

How do I replace the injector on the #2 cylinder. I have a large road trip this week with the truck and cant get into the dealership. (not to mention I'm poor).

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks Andy

PROBLEM FOUND!

It was not an injector, after some thinking and research I found that what the "mechanic" thought was the #2 cylinder was the #3 cylinder, so all the testing and checking was done on the wrong cylinder.

When I checked the actual #2 cylinder I found that the plug had been crushed, not able to spark at all.

Regapped that plug and she's all good now. Purrs like a kitten now.

Now I'm ticked that the gap on the plugs was not checked prior to install!

Most of the new plugs come gapped and they actually warn against regapping them. It may have gotten crushed when being installed.
