2007 Gmt 900 Fuel Gauge Problems

So the fuel gauge in my 2007 Silverado just died and a check engine light is being thrown. Checking the code with my dashhawk says that the Fuel Level Sensor is pooched. How long will this take to fix at the dealership? Do they have to drop the fuel tank?

I would offer one thing before you take it back. I do not know how many miles you have on your truck but there is a slim possibility you have a build up on your sensor. Chevron's Techron is great at cleaing this off and restoring fuel gauge sensors to working condition. Try a bottle at 1 oz per gallon.

Be sure and get the pure Techron and not their Fuel Inj cleaner with Techron.

It would be worth the $10.00 to try it.

well, ok, great... but do you live in FREEZING weather??? im guessing that you dont. but even if you do, the bulletin still says to replace the level sensor... so then yes the tank needs to be droppped and the level sensor replaced... if you bring it in to the dealer int he morning then it should be done by 2-3 o-clock... just make sure they have the level sensor in stock...

and btw, the P/N in that bulletin may only be for below freezing conditions, so if you dont live in ice, dont pay attention to the bulletin...

My VMax just started doing this as well. Thankfully, there is a TSB to fix this issue: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...64&hl=recal

Thanks man!

Describes my exact symptoms as this started happening when it hit -20 degrees celsius. Pisses me off mostly because the check engine light prevents the remote start from working, so I have to keep clearing the codes each day when i get home to make sure I can warm my truck up in the mornings.
