P0137

I had the catalytic convertor changed a few months ago because of a Emissions Efficiency code and the old convertor found to be empty, the catalyst migrating into the exhaust. The installer said it might cause problems later, but no restriction was evident at the time of the replacement. Also changed all the O2 sensors shortly thereafter. 97 GMC Sierra 4.3L with 150,000 miles on it. Truck ran good and passed inspection.

Taking a 800 mile trip the truck started losing power on the way home several months later and was forced to drive the last two hundred miles with the truck slightly surging and requiring more gas peddle than normal to maintain speed. It threw the P0137 and P0300 codes.

The truck throwout bearing had been making noise so I parked it when I got home and it sat for 5 days before I gathered a new clutch kit. Starting it up and backing it into the garage to start the clutch replacement it coated the right side of the garage with catalyst fines.

While I had the exhaust off I shook about 4 large handfuls of catalyst chunks/fines out of the muffle inlet.

Drove the truck after the clutch job was done and it runs great, but still throws the P0137 code. Have cleared the code twice with a scanner but it comes back on after driving about ten miles.

Have cleaned the O2 sensor wiring plug of all the road grime with Electric Clean bit no no avail.

Scanner shows the Bank 1, Sensor 2 more or less flat lining at 0v, occasionally displaying a .012v. All the other O2 sensors are fluctuating in normal range.

Is the sensor 2 dead ? Replace it with one of the old ones I still have? go with a new one ?
