Looking At A Used 07 Classic Crew Cab

So i am in the market and found a truck not to far from my house, its an 07 classic sierra 2500hd 4x4, crew, sle1, with the 6.0l. it only has about 13,000 miles on it. carfax says its clean and was bough in 06. so i figure 12k and change for miles isn't bad. the thing that weirds me out is that they are selling it for $20K. I can't go take a look at it until this weekend coming up and they are giving me a 90 day garrentee bumper to bumper. it seems to good to be true and i am wondering what i should be looking for when i do look at it. any signs or anything. i figure there can't be much wrong with it for only being a year old and have 13K miles on it. i feel like if i buy this its going to come back and bite me in the ass. let me know what i should do guys. thanks.

Is this from a GM dealer? I dont get the guarantee there giving you. The truck is already covered under the GM warranty. All I can say is look at it closely and try to get a 3rd party to inspect it to be safe, especially if it is from a non-gm used lot.

It is a used Chevy lot. They said that is the minimum garentee they give, however, the truck just got to the lot and they had to look over it still. I know i have to look it over well but anything i should be looking out for that goes early on this truck?

anyone else?

If it's a GM truck at a GM dealer, see if they'll GM Certify it. I'd go over the whole thing, as much as possible, though. Look for ANYthing that doesn't seem right... Paint that doesn't exactly match, fresh welds, shiney new parts, right next to dirty / dusty ones... Look for anything that might show evidence that it's been wrecked or flooded or ragged-on & patched-together. Look for anything that seems out of place.

Take it for a drive and don't let them lock you into an "around the block, what do you think?" drive either. DRIVE it... Get it up on the freeway. Drive it at highway speeds. Drive it through a neighborhood. Do stops and starts and turns. Make sure everything works the way it's supposed to. Until "you" feel good about it being a good truck, don't sign anything and don't give them any money. If, after all of that, you still don't feel right about it, find a different truck. Maybe something is wrong with it. Maybe nothing is wrong with it. If you "think" there is, though, and you buy it and you have problems, you'll be kicking yourself in the @$ for it.

So, above all else, don't do anything with or about it, until you're comfortable with the truck... Don't even worry about or think about "how good of a deal it is" until you're ok with the truck, otherwise. If you wouldn't pay full retail for it, don't pay a "too good to be true" price for it, either, just because it's cheap...

I've spent more money replacing cheap stuff than I care to count... So, don't fall into the trap of taking a good deal, just because it's cheap. It could end up costing you more, on down the road... So, like I said, make sure you're ok with the truck before you even think about the money. If, after all that, you're ok with it, go for it and good luck!

I can probably tell you why it's is priced low. Does you state work like it does here in KY where the owner of the vehicle on Jan. 1 pays the taxes on it for the year? Dealers try like mad to flip trade-ins and anything else on the lot in December so they don't have to pay taxes on Jan. 1. They can and want to sell it cheaper because they won't have to pay the taxes. December is a great time to get a great deal from a dealer-especially the week between Christmas a New Years.

This time of year I wholesale 2007 Classic Silverado Crew 1/2 tons (I don't ever have 3/4 tons) for around $20,000, so they could easily have only 19 grand or so in it if they were smart and are in it right, and believe me they are if they just got it in. Again, dealers like to lower inventory in December more than any other month. They are probably looking to flip it quick for a smaller profit than normal so it's not there on Jan. 1.

If it checks out good, you can't have much to lose since it's still under GM warranty anyway for another 23k miles.

from the pictures it doesn't look like it has a tailgate...but i don;t know anyway heres a picture of it tell me what you guys think...i will be calling these guys tomorrow morning again. That makes sense stratosman however they have 06's and 05's on the lot that have more miles on them, and are ex cabs with leather and are priced more...just compared to his other inventory it doesn;t seem right. thanks.

Looks like a nice truck. I like the color. If it's an 07 Classic it shoud have the 3/36 bumper to bumper and 5/100k mile powertrain warranty from GM. That's what my 07 Classic HD has. Everyone else has given some good advice. Look it over very carefully and drive it and not just around the block - take it out on the highway too. Be sure to ask them why the price doesn;t seem to fit what they have on the lot and see what they say. Whether it's true or not it will still be interesting to see what they say. It doesn't look like it has a tailgate from the picture - I know I have a few firnds who have had their tailgates from Classics stolen. I have no idea why but it's happend a couple of times that I know.

Honestly, the next question that comes to mind should probably be asked in person, so you can better gauge their reaction. "Ok -- So, what's wrong with it? Why so cheap?" If the guy you're talking to actually knows anything that's wrong with it, that'll probably fluster him a bit.. He may not actually TELL you anything is wrong with it, but if seems too caught-off-guard, maybe you should look elsewhere...

I also agree with what Stratosman said... It's coming up on the end of the year and they probably want to move it for tax purposes.

And as far as other trucks being priced higher... That may be because they have more money tied up in them, due to when they brought them on the lot. If they made a REAL good deal on this one and if they can turn it for a profit, even if it's a small one, why not? Clear it out before tax time at the end of the year.. (if your state does that)
