Rattling Problem Seat Belts

Recommended Posts

Those d**n seat belts keep hitting the side panels causing noise. That's the only rattling noise I have in my truck and without that would be awesome. Anybody know a solution to this?

This is a eazy one......

Buy the shoulder pads at the parts house and install them over the buckel and your problem is gone...

And then, it's time to start obsessing about some other noise, squeak, or creak somewhere.

Quite correct. I have one similiar or could be same.

Years ago, I purchased a new 1976 Chevette - $2,650.00 delivered.

And it was near Veterans Days - and in those days - one would make a donation to some Veterans group/organizaton - and receive a red poppy (cloth) flower with a thin metal wire so that it could be attached to something - like a lapel.

I put mine on my rear view mirror.

Later and forgotten, I had this constant minor sqeak from dash area. For the life of me I couldn't figure it out. It was intermitent. Buy annoying. I think I was going mad trying to figure where this minor squeak was coming from.

It was the red poppy wire squeaking. Swinging back and forth. It took me three weeks of heavy concentrated thinking to finally figure it out. Once down. Sqeak gone.

Interestingly, if I know what the sqeak is, it doesn't bother me. If I don't know what it is - it does bother me.

I think there is some sort of psychological definition for this. I don't want to know though!

I know in my crew cab, its the rear seat belts that rattled, i turned them upside down and tucked them in the plastic cover where the seat betls come out of. it stopped it, but i have a minor lil rattle near the left side of the door panel near the door handle, and ya, it drives me nuts. but most of the time i just crank the tunes.

On my crew cab i get a rattle from the rear ones if they aren't down on that loop on the belt all they way. usually after someone gets out i have to go back and slide the buckle onto the little loop on the belt so it doesn't tap. other than that mine are quiet.
