Gov Speed Limit!

I just found out that my truck only goes up to 90mph. My truck has 20" tires and capable of doing well over 100mph safely. I was trying to pass a bunch of moving trucks and speed limit post 75mph and there were alot of cars behind me want to pass. So i sped up and when it hits 90mph the truck just coasting and i didn't have room to move over w/o passing more traffics.

 

Just want to know how $$ is going to cause me to have this limitter remove? Does any one have this remove w/o having to buy hand held programmer. Thx for info.

I have read in here that getting a "tune" can get rid of the limiter. I haven't done it myself.

90mph??? I have only heard of limiters being set that low for fleet vehicles and rentals. Most are set at 98-99MPH. I have the Edge Evolution and I cen set mine to whatever I want. Most handheld tuners and all custom tunes can adjust the speed limiter.

Yea, stock gov is 97 or 98mph. But if he doesnt have a tune or handheld his speedo is most likley off with those 20s.

when i got my truck it was set at 90 mph limiter... would actaully start cutting around around 88/89... i got my programmer, but havent had a chance to open it up passed there since... so im not sure what it will do now... but it looks like you will have to go with either a tune, or a programmer to get rid of your limiter, i cant see you convincing a dealer to get rid of it haha...

I think what he means is his tires are rated for more than 100 MPH.

Just want to clear up about speed. I don't go over 10mph of post limit speed very day driving. I go fast on the race tracks. Some time you need to go pass the speed limit for safety reasons (certain suitation). Since i've been driving and riding for more then 30yrs. I'd never been rack or cause any accident by me.
