Gears And Tuners

Im a noob... hi!

I had the dealer give me a GM vehicle build report from my VIN. It says I have the 3.23 ratio and it sucks! I am wanting to go 3.73 or maybe 4.10 but I dont tow much and I want some good mileage so I was figuring I could probably gain a little mileage by going to 3.73 as well as some set of the pants gains :D. How do I need to correct the speedo afterwards though? I would like to get a Predator but I am leary of it because I had one on my 02 Mustang GT auto and it raised trans line pressure and eventually tore it to pieces. I dont want to do anyting to sacrifice reliability of the truck at all! 05 Silverado RCSB 5.3 running 275/55/20 and no mods except the rims and exhaust and an Escalade cluster. So I guess my question is... will the Predator hurt anything at all just by installing the predator tune and correcting my speedo or what is the best route? Thanks :)

EDIT:

I was also wanting a shift kit... nothing harsh, just something basic to firm it up just a tad... whats common in these trucks, or will the diablo take care of that?

Then yeah. You would want to go with 3.73s or 4.10s. And since your sig pic shows you pulling a trailer, and you obviously want to lay down "twin black streeks of rubber. . .every day," I say go with the 4.10s.

Go 4.10's or go home. Especially if you tow with those huge rims and tires.

Don't even think of a hand held tuner they're worthless for the same money get a mail order pcm from nelson, wait4me, wheatley, etc. They can correct your speedo and ABS for the new gear size.

I dont give it hell lol... I just thought that was cool lol.... I hate to go 4.10 and then wish I had went 3.73... I put 4.10 in my 02 gt and they were too low for interstate.

That's simply crap. The difference between the two is a few hundred rpms in overdrive. Especially with those big rims and tires you want 4.10's so you can maintain 2000rpm at 70mph. I have 3.73's with 265 tires and I wish I had 4.10's for the little extra power. You will put less stress on your tranny as well the quicker you move to a lower gear like a 4.10.
