Help Save My Wife

Recommended Posts

I let my wife talk me into driving my 07 NBS Silverado around a parking lot while my son and I ran into a store. And in one trip around a small lot, she managed to HIT A CURB, and scratch up the front left 20" aluminum 5 spoke wheel!!! :nopity:

Now...before anyone stars "flaming" me, I know it is my fault for letting her drive in the first place (but that is a whole 'nother story). Also, I realize that things like this can happen, but I am kinda' "ticky" about my truck :( . I figure there are some on this forum that may understand (lol).

So back the scratched wheel...

I have smoothed out most of the scratches, and I have buffed it pretty good. My problem now is that the affected area is a little discolored. Are these wheels "silver painted alumnum"? And if so, can anyone tell me where to get touch up paint for these?

If I can not get it looking a little better, then I will HAVE TO break down and just buy a new wheel. I know that bad boy is going to be expensive, and I would really rather use the money on driving lessons for my wife.

Thanks in advance,

You could always go to the backwoods chevy dealer, and swap out the wheel, Just Kidding, My wheels have a clearcoat on them, and if I would get a decent mark, id probably end up getting all the clearcoat off, and polishing them until the cows came home.

The only answer I can think of is don't let your wife drive the truck :( My old lady hasn't driven my truck since the time she was driving/talking on the phone and ran a red light, almost pulverizing a car. Women drivers no survivors. Today she came home and told me how her Camry ended up half way thru a corn field. :nopity:

You guys (or your wife) must have had a great new years to end up half way through a corn field, any damage?

I wasn't with her, she was heading home from work about an hour ago. She works at an assisted living place, so they have to be staffed 24/7 365, and on Holidays everyone works a 4 hour shift. The Camry seems to be alright. I've taken it thru some snow before, it's an off road beast :(

Wow, you guys are petty. I think my wife is a little more important than the piece of metal that does work for me. Your truck has no feelings, no matter how much you think it does.

Do you even let other people in your truck? Can you give anyone a ride? I take it these are not work trucks.

Wemen knows how to drive people crazy, not Trucks :nopity: .

It is your fault letting her drive your truck, now do not kill her for this, go buy a another rim.

Happy New Year.. :(

I think you need to just buy a new wheel, or maybe some aftermarket wheels.

Remember this though: "IF MAMA ISN'T HAPPY, NOBODY'S HAPPY" :nopity:

I'm sure she didn't mean to do it. She probably feels bad about it too....

Be nice to her. Trust me.... I know how it is to have something like this happen, but it will all work out.

At least there's no body damage.... :(

It's a new year...Start it off right. Maybe you can make her work it off, if you know what I mean.....LOL :D

Good luck...

My wife drives my truck more than I do by far and has never put a mark on any vehicle we have owned. She is nuts about keeping it clean and washes it about twice a week. As far as a driver, I'd pick her as my co driver in the next BAJA race in a minute. My wife is great fun and my best friend. Thank GOD she has a sense of humor or she may have killed me many times over the years.

I guess I just got lucky but she is almost as much a car nut as I am.

People ride? Yes. Let people who drive like s**t drive it? NO. I pay for it.

whenever my girlfriend wants to drive my truck just tell her not to kill or race anyone. But now it's all fair game because she just bought herself a Trailblazer SS that i get to play with :nopity:

Don't lose focus man... It's just a truck. Years from now you won't even remember this...... And if you do, you need to relax man......

HT07LT2, look locally and you'll probably find a wheel repair/reconditioning facility. These are the guys that fix the damaged (salvageable) wheels from accidents or incidents like yours. Instead of the insurance company paying for a new rim, these guys recondition the wheels for much less. You'll typically find these places doing a lot of business with bodyshops.

Best of luck to you!
