Fuel Gauge

OK Here goes - 1997 GMC gas, fuel gauge onle reading between half and full?

removed unit from tank, when float arm is full up the gauge reads full or slightly above

but when the float arm is full down it only reads half on the gauge.

Any suggestions ?

My '95 reads the full range E to F. Unfortunately it is half-full when the gauge reads about 7/8. If your's is consistent, as mine is, I say live with it.

Sounds like you need a new sensor it's out anyway just replace it.
