Fyi 2008 Engine Squeak

I haven't posted on here for a long time, but thought this would be of interest. I traded my 2003 last month for a new 2008 Crew Cab (my sig below). I was having a nasty bit of squeaking when the temp was below 50°. It varied with the speed of the motor -- slow squeak at idle, fast as you brought up the RPM's. Took it to my dealer and they diagnosed the smaller of the two engine belts was the problem and ordered one. I was a little skeptical that was what it was, but they replaced it last week and the squeak is gone. Said they had one other like that as well. Just an FYI for you in case this comes up with your truck.

Mine is doing the same thing....so your saying its the AC belt?

 

I was gonna take mine in last week but it got warm here in Houston so it stopped making the noise. However, it squeeked this morning because it was 37deg.

The AC belt I believe (if that is what its called anyway). There is only two and it wasn't the large serpentine belt. Mine is quiet as a mouse now. Love this pickup, its a great ride.

How many miles are on your truck?....I have 1600 on mine.

Why do that yourself, its under warranty, take her to the dealer.

Well mine only does it in the morning and last maybe 45sec. It warms up here quickly, so Im just trying to avoid wasting a whole day and them telling me....problem not found

 

 

BTW....Did yours squeel without any fan/ac/defrost on?

Yep, but it was more of a squeak, squeak, squeak, etc.

 

 

Thats the way mine sounds...like a beat-up 1989 Dodge Caravan

Just had a belt replaced on Maxine Wednesday due to noise on cold starts mostly.
