Truck Got Broken Into

At 4:30pm at my job, my truck got broken into. I have a viper alarm with window tint. The alarm went off, but the way they got into the truck was by breaking the black plastic around the passenger door handle. Just a little corner of it, then they had access to the linkage that actuates the door lock. I might as well have left it unlocked. All they took was the stereo, and they didnt damage anything else. Are there any stronger door handles available, like a metal one. I have looked but all I have found are covers, and chromed plastic. Any help will be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about that. Had the same happen to my '91 even though my back window was unlocked and cracked open a couple of inches. Friggin' Thieving Morons. My door handle surrounds were metal, but the metal is so thin it really makes no difference. They took a screwdriver and pried under mine on the corner so it dented the door all to hell too. Best you can hope for is that the odds are on your side and that you won't get hit again.

As for better handles, some companies are offering billet aluminum handles, but they are quite pricey. Nothing stronger from GM I am afraid.

I hate theives.

$200 in damage to steal a radio you can pick up on sleezebay for next to nothing, that wont even work without unlocking it.

but yea that sucks about ur ytuck. my ford was broken into for the 35$ cd player wich would pawn for about 5$.... and yea broke the a/c window wich was 90$ to replace.

I put these on my 91 and on all 4 of the doors on the 04. Very easy install and nice peace of mind. Of course in my case, they just broke the window out to steal the radio, but still...

I was just going to mention that you can put whatever you want on and spend as much as you can, but in the end, they'll just break a window if they really want in. Just keep your insurance paid up and not much valuable in the truck.

Sorry to hear that. Look at the bright side, the stock stereos in the 2000's (I had one) pretty much suck anyway. Take the ins money and buy a nice aftermarket one.

You got that right! These Bastard will do anything to get what they want. The only thing that would probably work is a couple of bullets to the head, if you were to catch them.

they didnt steal a stock deck did they? I though you had a aftermarket

 

insurance LOL 250-500 deductible is standard now

now maybe if he gets a bodyshop to estimate the repairs and a audio shop to replace it

he might get an estimate high enough, tell the insurance company you want them to pay for the jimmy jammers

I go some things from them, the gate keeper, tailight keeper ,lic plate keeper when personalized plates get stolen its hard to get them replaced, I have not got he jimmy jammer for the NBS yet
