Honda Ridgeline Spare Tire

I saw something funny today. A Honda Ridgeline "truck" with a skinny "donut type" spare tire installed on the right front hub! I thought these things had full size spares. It looked really stupid with that skinny spare tire on.

Where would they put a full size spare? They have that cute little trunk in the bed, remember?

Tundra looks stupid enough as is lol, or ugly should I say

Umm...thats why they sold nearly 200,000 in the US in 2007, and it was not on the market for even a year :D

here we go again....you tundra boys can't take a joke. God forbid somebody says something bad about your beloved tundra.....

As for the original topic, the ridgeline doesn't count as a truck.

Not to start anything, and I've seen you make some informative posts, but would you care to enlighten me as to why you hang around here? I would never feel the need to hang around a tundra forum.... Once again, your welcome around here when you make good informative posts, unlike another tundra owner, I'm just curious...

Not counting off-roading, I've used a spare tire MAYBE 3 times in 20 years of driving. I'd take a donut spare if that meant I could have a locking trunk in my bed.

:D That doesn't negate the fact that they're still ugly as hell. Just like there are people who are die-hard Chevy fans, there are die-hard Toyota fans.

OK...I'll post something informative. The Ridgeline is NOT a truck. You guys may not agree with my Tundra purchase, but I simply can't understand why anyone would purchase a Ridgeline.

BTW....I own a Chevy, Ford, and Toyota truck. The Toyota is my new truck. Do I need to post pictuers of them all? :D

I guess the point of the original thread was that any SUV or truck should have a full size spare. The last thing you want is a donut size spare if you are towing a heavy trailer on a rainy night in the middle of nowhere. These vehicles are supposed to be utility vehicles - as such they are built for hauling and towing and crossing rough terrain. On top of that the Ridgeline is a 4WD vehicle. No 4WD vehicle should come without a full size spare.

Was it short too? I'd guess that it may be the same diameter, which would negate any harmful effects on the drivetrain.

Doesn't really matter though. It's not like he's going to drive on it that long, and it wouldn't hurt that truck a bit to drive around with one short tire for a little while. It's effectively no different that turning a constant corner as far as the differentials are concerned.

thats not the only cheap cutback on the ridgline... if you look at the bed rails and then the tailgate... the tailgate is a whole 2 full inches shorter then the bed rails... I'm not sure if its supposed to have a pretty snap on top but it looks cheap ... almost hot wheels to me... id never be caught dead in one...

as far as flaming the tundra guy... i have no problem with u posting here.. just don't give any of us reason to not like u... a joke is a joke... no reason to get all emotional about it...

why drop the tailgate lower then the bed rails? i don't get it? is this some sort of aerodynamic secret... guess its time to get the sawzall out on the rado.. :D

For some reason that pic of the Ridgeline looks a lot better than they do in person. They look much smaller and fragile up close. Can't believe the mini-van spare tire. I really don't think Honda seriously realized what a truck is.
