Hi guys, got lots of questions about truck toolboxes.

1. How do they mount

2. Will my linex get in the way

3.Anybody got pics?

4. Best brand

I have never had a toolbox and I want to invest in one but iam scared that it will damage my bed rails. Pics are greatly appreciated.

Here are some pics of my toolbox. Real simple to put on. It came with everything you need to attach it to the truck, no holes to drill. It has two L shaped clamps and four nuts and bolts. It also came with a soft foam to place between the truck bedrail and the toolbox itself.

That's a nice toolbox, how much does GM charge for one of those?

I bought a Delta Champion Low-Pro, and couldn't be happier with it. To mount it you put foam tape on the underside of the box where it will touch the rails, to protect your paint, then it's as simple as using the j-bolts that came with it. You put the j-bolts through a slot on the inside of the box, and hook the "j" part under the bed rails, then torque it down with a ratchet. I've reefed on mine as hard as I could and couldn't move it a mm. Impressive for two little bolts.

Edit: Not sure how this mounting system will affect the weak bedrails I've heard you NBS guys talking about...

i have a Jobox - i doubled up on the J-bolts to attach to the underside bed rail

just be careful how tall and how deep of a tool box you get - if your reverse technique is to look over your shoulder your view will be greatly diminished , if mirror's - no worries

Jobox and Weatherguard are both good brands - just review the locking mechanism and construction for break-in

I got mine from the dealer for $399. They had it sitting around and couldn't get rid of it. GM sells it for $525. I really like it, strong and durable. The lid doesn't flex like cheaper boxes. I have stood on top of it many times without having to worry about it bending and it hasn't had an effect on my bed rails.

I bought mine at Tractor Supply and have been happy with it. I bought the midgrade line, not the cheap ones. Make sure it has a good lock if you live in an area with high crime, or are going to store anything valuable in it. The one I have has a J bolt that fastens it to the bed rails. I used a wing nut instead of the supplied normal nut so I could remove it quick so I can haul more hay in the bed. I got the wing design instead of the solid top because I though it would be easier to open. Looking back I kind of wish I would have just gotten the top all the way across with handles on both sides to open (not one handle in the middle). It would have allowed me to get longer tools in and out of the box quicker. Something else I looked for when I got mine was to make sure it was insulated around the cover. A lot of times I store my saddle and other tack in there and don't want it to get wet if I pass through rain.

The only thing I don't like is the box has that aluminum textured design all the way around, even on the parts that touch the bed rails. I didn't know any better when I got it and put it on without foam (it did not come with any). It scratched the bejesus out of my bed rails. I repaired it and then got some foam insulation at the hardware store and put two layers on. The dang thing will still scratch my bed rails with that textured bottom. I don't know how it manages to rub through the foam sometimes, even though I tigenten it down real good. If I knew I would have put some solid plastic on the bottom where it touches the bed rails, and then foam under the plastic.

I would shop around and see what options are available. Some of the ones I have seen on these forums have looked pretty nice. I wanted to get mine locally which is why I got the one at TSC.

Heres a Kobalt from lowes (made by better built). Normally cost just under $300. Works great, stays dry and locks very securly. I would recomend getting a box with the handles on the ends of the box instead of the side facing the tailgate, they are easier to reach and if the rest of the bed is full you can still get to the handles to open the box. In my opinion the low profile ones look better than the one I have although you do loose a bit of space.

Very Easy to mount!!!! About 10 min by your self, a Ratchet, and maybe a tape measure. you almost cant screw it up, i would recomend getting a tool box that has the 2 doors that you can open up on either side of the truck.

oh and your bedliner will NOT get in the way.

Here's a picture of the GMC tool box which mounts onto the cargo management system. I think its a great tool box and I would recommend it to anyone with the CMS. There's plenty of room inside, it uses your truck key to lock/unlock it, and it slides along the CMS with ease no matter how much weight you have inside of it. There is also a bit of room undeathe it. Also it won't hurt the sprayin bed liner.

I really like the RamBox that Dodge is putting in their new trucks. It would be nice if the Silverado came with these standard like the Avalanche. I'd certainly be willing to give up whatever bed space is taken up by these things.
