99 Jimmy Security Light

Hey guys, I know this question has been asked a million times but my senario is a little different. The wife was driving to work today and the security light came on steady while driving. She shut it off, restarted fine and no light. Then on her way home, the light came on steady again.

 

She checked all the doors and they are all closed. The passlock system works normally when the door is closed (jimmy not running)..no light...open door, security light flashes..

 

HISTORY---Last year we had a similar problem where the passlock was not working properly (door open/door closed light flashing) and caused the jimmy not to start. We brought it to the garage and they completed the tsb and changed a component on the column ( cannot remember the name right now) and all was well until today ( 1 year and change later).

 

She mentioned when she unlocked the jimmy last night at the mall, with the fob, she got inside and as she was getting in she locked the door with the fob and started the jimmy and came home. Did she possibly get something out of sync to cause this security light to come on now?

 

My question is, how (if possible by me) can I reset the system to see if it was just a fluke of nature that is causing this light to come on steady? Can I just disconnect the battery or am I sol and need to go to the dealer to have them look at it?

ya disco the batt acts as a univesal reset, leave it off for like 15min.

 

side note. have u had a new key cut lately? and nah hittin the fob like that while in the car wont hurt nuttin
