Newbie, Service 4wd Light.

Hello all. New here. Site looks very nice, and everyone seems to know what they are talking about. Love it!

 

I just picked up a 2005 Sierra 1500 SLE 4x4 Z71. Truck drives great, especially coming from a ford based life. (insert bash later) ha. I have put a few hours in the truck and have had the "service 4wd light" as most people have had the issue with. Except, my truck does not go between 4wd auto, 4wd lo, or 4wd high. It just stays in 2wd, and the amber light never goes out. All be it, I can not select anything other than 2wd.

 

Could this still be the switch causing an issue, or something the dealership should look at. (it is out of warranty, unless a TSB is going to save me.)

I had read that thread already. But it was still helpful to re-read it. I might have to have it scanned for codes, and it none are thrown, i will try the switch.

aye had to put a switch in my 99. real common problem. lately though it seems the mode actuators are made of crap
