Hard Steering To The Left, Fine To The Right

This has every mechanic in town scratching their heads. My '04 Sierra 4x4 1500 turns hard (no assist) to the left, and perfectly to the right. Once in a while it is ok to the left too. But the right is always fine.

There isn't much of a consensus on what to do, hoping you guys can help.

Thank you for reading.

I once had a similar problem with an older truck when something broke in the steering damper.... it was like a shock absorber that once removed was very easy to extend, and almost impossible to compress, instead of the even resistance it should have in each direction.

I dont know what the mechanics who have looked at it actually checked for you, but there are number of possibilities. the only one I personally have experience with is the one I mentioned.

Is it rack and pinion steering? I've seen this very problem on bad steering racks on import cars... I would assume it would also be possible in a truck. Just a guess.

Did any of the shops perform a ps steering pressure & flow test? There is a test procedure to see what's going on. Find a shop that can perform this for you. It'll be either the ps pump, the ps pump flow control valve, or the ps steering gearbox-(most likely this is what's bad).
