a good friend of mine recently bought some 8500K HIDs for his 05 Ram..they are super bright but too blue for me...6500k is even brighter with less blue and more crystal white..im debating whether its worth it or not..i have halogen bulbs in right now and i see fine..does anyone have 6500K HIDs..is it a Huge Difference? worth $300.00?

I have 6000K HIDs in my YukonXL.

I've tried most of the regular 'better than factory' lights....blue xenon, Silverstars, etc.

Nothing comes close to the results of the HIDs.

Would I do it again in my next truck....oh yes!

I've got 6000K and once you have HIDS you will never want to drive another vehicle with halogens. and I got mine off ebay for $88.00 shipped!

I think mine are 6500k and i love them, I've had everything from 6500k-10000k and these have put out the best light without much blue or purple tint to them, I bought mine on abay for $95 and have had no problems with them whatsoever.

I'm thinking about adding the HID's to my truck as well, what is all involved in the install? Do thay just install in the orignal headlamps? Is there addtional wiring required?

I agree 100%. It's McCulloch or Philips or its nothing. The HID's are supposed to use less current (35w as opposed to 55w) but many of the $99 imports use MORE current because of very inefficient ballasts, poor grounds, etc and many will cause a lot of interference with some electronic equipment like your radio. The excess current draw will also blow fuses, very aggravating. I just put the Philips kits from XenonPros in my highs and lows and they work great, installed very easily, and do not blow fuses. They came with all the proper cables and adapters, nothing to cut or splice, and genuine Philips ballasts and bulbs.

As for color, 4000k to 5000k will give you the most useable light and will be very white. As you go from 5000k to 6500k you will start to get a little blue and on to 1000k which will be very blue, and in some cases purple depending on the manufacturer. On to 12000k and you are in the purple range. Color will vary from manufacturer, but the better manufacturers (Philips & McCulloch) will at least be consistent at the same color temp. The cheap ones have very poor quality control and it is not uncommon to have a pair of lights of the same advertised color temp be slightly different colors.

In any case, HID is the way to go. Once you go HID you will never go back to halogen.

FTR 4300k is factory color and is the brightest for optimum output

I have 6000Ks and they look fine. . .actually a little too blue for me as I like a pure white look. Sadly my supplier didnt have 5000k
