Does Anyone Here Have A Consolevault In Their Gmt900?

I'm looking at the ConsoleVault for my 08 and was wondering if anyone has one in the GMT900. I'd love to see pics with the door open and interior of the vault. I'd also like to know if the bottom is flat or if it follows the contour of the bottom of the stock compartment. If you have one (for any model) what do you think about it (strength, etc)???

I'd really like to have something more secure then the plastic locking glovebox or non-locking console for those times that I need to leave a handgun in the truck. I'd probably go for the combination lock version.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, go here:

Well that is a heck of alot cheaper but I still think I want something in the console. I pretty much only use my console for a gun and storing my Valentine 1. I can put the extra spit cups under the rear seat :tear:

I looked at that. I wasn't willing to give up the 'casual' access to my console. I went this route:

I like to keep a "hogleg" around but do not like the hassle of making sure I secured it. This looks like a great alternative to being a lock freak with the truck.

I forgot about a pistol being referred to as a hog leg so I took 2 seconds and I looked it up. It made me chuckle. I hope you did NOT mean number 3, that'd just be weird.

From Urban Dictionary:

hog leg

1. The biggest f*cking joint you have ever f*cking seen

2. A firearm, ie., old western 6 shot revolvers. shaped like a part of a hogs leg. slang for a pistol, western style

3. A huge donkey dong of a cak.

rofl to number 1. don't mean to hijack but if you were to have either a lock box, or that locking console, and it was locked when a police officer searches your truck would he make u open it? I'd like to carry my glock 9 but I don't have a permit nor am I 21...

Oh, my.

This has turned into a simple question about a center locked glove box to personal protection items.

In the state next to me one needs a permit for mace. But we digress.

They always used to provide two keys for cars. One for ignition and one for glove box.

The glove box key was for valet parking. So that the valet or anyone else could not get into glove box. The valet could park vehicle and go get it for you and not be able to enter glove box. What happened to that concept?

I too can not find something I like to accomplish a lockable device in the console. I don't like the console loosing the whole console to the consolelock. Was looking for somehting that fit in our consoles that locked, like 1/4 to half way, found nothing. How bout this idea, use that ebay one inside the console. Just unbolt the console a little to snake the wire to a seat bolt or whatever? I have to measure to see what would work better, just an idea.

If your vehicle is being searched they will ask you to unlock it. I have a CHL but as of Jan 1 2008 you no longer need a CHL to carry a gun legally in your car in Texas. I got pulled over a few weeks ago (didn't get a ticket) and I showed the officer my CHL and he told me that he didn't need to see due to the changes in the law.

I don't mind taking up the enitre console for this purpose since I'm used to locking the console on my 99 everytime I leave the vehicle unattended. With the Vault I will essentially be doing the same thing, lock when leaving, unlock upon return to the vehicle.
