I have never owned a truck or any american car. I have a car im building for the track and a show car. So I am looking into buying a truck. I dont want a import truck. And import truck just dont sound right to me. I know for a fact that if I have to get a truck I want it to be a chevy. Because I see alot with 200,000 mile range and still running strong, and because alot of chevy parts can be swaped with eachother. But now I have alot of question, and I hope you guys can help me out and answer them. I woulld like a older V8 truck that didnt use a ecu/ecm.

Questions:

1. What year did chevy start using ecu/ecm in there trucks?

2.Are all the fuel injeted 350 ecu/ecm?

3. Are all 350 parts interchangable? Or is it just gen1 parts with gen 1 and gen 2 with gen 2 ect....ect?

4. Can you put a carb on the newer FI motors and just take out the ecu/ecm?

5. How can you tell what older truck can pull how much weight. I need a truck that can pull at lease 4000lbs so what size truck would I need 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton?

6. Trucks that have the v6 can you swap them for a v8? Do they use the same motor mounts or do you have to swap crossmembers or make motor mount plates?

7. Are all the trannys swappable th400, or if its stander do the t56 bolt up to any 305, 350, 454.

Sorry for all of the question, but any help would be great. What year and size truck should I be looking for.

2.Are all the fuel injeted 350 ecu/ecm? of course

3. Are all 350 parts interchangable? Or is it just gen1 parts with gen 1 and gen 2 with gen 2 ect....ect? NO

4. Can you put a carb on the newer FI motors and just take out the ecu/ecm? Not without a ton of work

5. How can you tell what older truck can pull how much weight. I need a truck that can pull at lease 4000lbs so what size truck would I need 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton? Half ton will do

6. Trucks that have the v6 can you swap them for a v8? Do they use the same motor mounts or do you have to swap crossmembers or make motor mount plates? Only the 4.3 in 90 and newer

7. Are all the trannys swappable th400, or if its stander do the t56 bolt up to any 305, 350, 454. Pre 87, drivelines and controls will be the issue
