Cold Air Intake, Muffler, Hypertech, Etc.

I'm new here and I'm gonna jump in with both feet first. I have a 2008 Silverado 1500 LTZ with the 6.0L engine. Who can tell me what is the best muffler to put on this thing? I'm seeing a lot of mixed reviews regarding the active fuel management and I'm hesitant to make any mods without doing some research. I'm only interested in a muffler because i just want to turn down directly underneath the truck. I'm also picking up a cold air intake from GM tomorrow. Does anyone have any opinions on the new Hypertech programmer for these trucks?

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I prefer the Flowmaster Super 44, but I am not sure about how it will act with the AFM setup, Magnaflow or Corsa maybe sounds like what you should look into

Depends if you want a custom exhaust or a prefab catback. I've had pretty much every setup, and prefer the Corsa catback, but it is your choice.

 

I have a 2007 GMC Sierra 6.0L and asked the same questions regarding a custom tune. I wanted the AFM because I take alot of trips and wanted the extra fuel economy..I ended up getting a custom tune from Joe Verdone in Scottsdale, AZ. WOW! what a difference it make and AFM is still enabled.

Well, if you do a search, you'll find that while expensive, the Corsa is highly recommended - especially for the 6.0l. Any cold air intake that is sealed will work (ie. not exposed to engine heat). And custom tunes are awesome.

 

So if you really want to do some research, just spend a bit of time with the search function. You'll find lots of info all over the place here. But ultimately, you'll just have to give it a try and see what you think for yourself.

I have DiabloSport programmer that I can turn the AFM off and on. I'm currently testing to see how much of a difference in highway mileage there is. I don't have any numbers yet, but by the gauge and the odometer I'd have to say highway mileage is down nearly 10% with it off.
