Affordable Locker For Everyday Use

I'm looking for an affordable locking differential. I have a 2003 silverado z71 and no I don't have the G80. The most "offroading" I do is gettin to my favorite fishing hole. I just need something for better snow and mud traction. Give me some ideas because there's so many options out there but I don't know what would be good for my application.

i would also like to know, i like to not always have to throw it into 4wd everytime i hit a little snow or icey patch.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Detroit TrueTrac, but it is a limited slip and I don't really know how it would perform in snow and mud. And from what I've seen in offroad catalogs, it is one of the cheaper limited slips out there.

I have the G80 in my 2500HD and this is the third truck I had with one. I like how the function and they work great or everyday use. If my G80 ever goes I'm 99% sure I'll do another G80 or an Eaton E-locker. I had an Auburn limited slip in my 8.8 rear in my ranger and that thing was great too. I never really went hard core off roading with that diff but it always spun both tires in ice, snow, mud or on bare road.

 

The regular lockers(lockright, detroit) are noisy and I would avoid them for daily driving, I broke my G80 in my 96 Z71 and bought a PowerTrax No-Slip and it was noisy(not as bad as a regular locker) and i didn't care for it so I bought another G80 off ebay for it. The powertrax no slip is no where near as smooth as a limited slip like they claim. Also, the Auburn Pro is super aggressive and I don't think that will slip much like OEM limited slips do but they cost a little more and for some might not be what you want for a daily driver.

From what I have read on other forums is that the Truetrac is the best for all around use. It's also pretty durable to. There's a place on Ebay that sells them for $430 new.

You can't go wrong with Eaton or Detroit!!!!(Detroit is an Eaton brand)
