bowtiefan Posted November 15, 2001 Posted November 15, 2001 O man guys my dad and mom were on there way to work this morning and they hit a huge buck with his truck. Poor chevy is in bad shape now. From one side to the other side of the front of the truck is gone. The grille the hood is smashed up and curled into the motor and the radiator and everything it ripped out all the lights and everything are smashed to hell. I have never seen a vehicle so bad that was hit by a deer. Cant wait to see what the price is to fix it. And hell they looked for over a hour for the deer and did not find it.My dad said it was on hell of a huge deer atleast a 8 or 10 point and by the looks of the front of the truck the deer was huge. And yes my dad and mom are alright thank god just a little shaken up thats all. dang Deer.
MountaineerTom Posted November 15, 2001 Posted November 15, 2001 Quote from pacodiablo, posted on Nov. 14 2001,7:33 woulden't the deer be killed? Not always. From the sound of how bad the truck is, it more that likely ran as far as it could, then died. Glad to hear your parents are ok bowtiefan.

Stepside Z Posted November 15, 2001 Posted November 15, 2001 Glad to hear that your parents are OK. You ought to see what a truck looks like when you hit a Moose. I had a buddy in high school that hit one and it totaled his truck. By the way the truck was a Ford. lol
Kansas Kid Posted November 15, 2001 Posted November 15, 2001 Glad to hear your parents are ok. You ain't joking Stepside. I always here people complain about hitting deer, but I remind them that it could be worse. Like a moose, or even a cow. The damage from that makes hitting a deer seem not so bad. I've never hit one with my truck, but I was riding with my cousin when he hit one in his F350. Luckily the brushguard knocked the deer down and didn't cause any damage to the truck.
MadFish Posted November 15, 2001 Posted November 15, 2001 That sucks! Glad to hear your parents are ok. Since Kansas mentioned hitting a cow. Heres what a cow can do to a Dodge Challenger http://64.41.98.98/features/cowstory.htm
bobs409 Posted November 15, 2001 Posted November 15, 2001 I hit 3 in my time! The one I hit with my old VW Beetle and the impact was so hard, the headlights popped out. (fiberglass fenders) The dent in the front hood was large and actually came in handy at beer party's as it made the best seat there! Ah, the good old days...
chevy4x4trucks Posted November 15, 2001 Posted November 15, 2001 Sorry to hear about the truck, but glad to hear your parents are okay. Madfish: wow, that car is messed up.
DigUout Posted November 15, 2001 Posted November 15, 2001 It doesn't matter what you're driving when you hit a deer or elk, you're gonna lose. I saw a Peterbilt tractor pulled over on the interstate last fall. A deer had lept out onto the road and slammed into the side of his sleeper cab. You'd have thought a boulder crashed into it, the damage was amazing! They never found that deer either. Glad the folks are OK-

raventai Posted November 15, 2001 Posted November 15, 2001 I hit a small doe with my old cadalac doing about 60 before i slamed on the brakes (impact speed unknown) and it did a lot of damage took out the grill, lights, pass. fender, hood, ac condenser, radiator and radiator support that was an old solid caddy and a small deer I would hate to see what a big one would do to a modern front end
pacodiablo Posted November 15, 2001 Posted November 15, 2001 if a deer as much as touched a new truck it would leave a dent
