285/7017 On 2008 Hd2500

Plan on changing from my stock Lt245/75R16E and putting on the Moto Metal 958's I have already bought.

The Wheels are 17x9" -12 offset and an 8x6.5 bolt.

I was told by rep. that my Michelin 265/70r17E LTX A/t2 I had planned on getting would fit fine.

Problem is I kind of doubt they will due to the fact they only list 8.0" as max on Rim width.

That would mean to get load capacity I need to jump up to the 285/70R17D size.

Questions are,

A) will the 285's fit on my 2008 hd2500 w/o any lift kit?

B) Will I be unhappy with this choice of tire size on this truck ? (Besides addit. $)

I am sold on the Michelin LTX's

I have gone through many different versions of both Goodyear and Coopers and have not had a tire impress me as much as the LTX's I put on my 2002 Duramax last year.

Thanks for the help,

I know I am not answering your question.

Did you know that that offset will stick out quite far from the fender well? Expect 2-3" sticking out from the fender. If that is what you are after, i apologize for mentioning it. The front end mechanism is highly stressed by this also. Plan on 20,000 mile bearing and tie rod maintenance.

If the late model trucks have changed from the earlier models, I am not aware of it. I mention it because normaly you can't return rims once they are mounted to tires

I thank you for your input.

I do not have alot of experience with putting on diff. wheel sizes, or the efffects of the offsets etc.

I have e-mailed supplier I bought at. I hope they havn't shipped tet.

If they have we will either look at frieght back & exchange, or I get to learn how to sell on e-bay.

Sorry about error on first attemt on reply. I guess I know even less about how to work this board.
