Well, one of my many questions, but i dont have power windows/ locks so i was looking at adding keyless entry...

http://www.slickcar.com/productdetails.asp?ProductID=2208

it's cheap yes, but i dont need a fancy $300 system. this one looks nice i checked out there website and looks like i can get remotes and parts and what not, it also says it has marking lamp light up and stuff that would be pretty nice especially at night or something you can just hit the remote and the lamps come on.

Looking for opinions/ advice/ or if i should get something a little better. Thanks!!

This wont give you keyless entry, you will still need to put the power lock modules. This kit just taps into the already existing power lock wires and actuators and provides remote control. You will still need parts to actually cause the doors to lock.

EDIT:

I didnt see the parts below which are also the motors and power lock actuators.

You did include advice in your request.

My advice: Take that money and stick it in a savings account and put it towards your next truck. Key-less entry on an older truck without power locks already in place will end up being more trouble than it's worth. Hell, save it for gas, at $4 a gallon this summer, even these guys with the Denalis will be feeling the crunch.

i think it would really be worth it, when im walking out to my truck when its -20 or raining or super windy or something i can hit a button unlocking BOTH doors instead of standing by the door, then quick trying to get in and jump to the other side and hit that button for the passenger. and then when i park it i can easily make sure its locked...

i was just asking what people have tried and for advice.

And if people have more, keep it coming.

I agree that key-less entry is handy, I guess what I was saying by it not being worth it is I see a great chance that with adding the entire system (power locks too), you'll end up having problems and then you'll be standing out in the cold or rain anyway except this time you'll be pissed too. I don't think installing them is a bad idea, just may not be worth it. It's obviously your call.

but cant you still use your key?

im thinking of going with a AutoLoc Brand they seem like a little bit better company.

The biggest thing about adding power lock is the install. I used to fix the other guys installs. The motors/actuators and the linkage have to be mounted solid. They move, your locks don't work and they can jam up in the door and prevent you from using the key as well. If you are somewhat mechanical you can do it yourself and YOU will take some time and do it well, or pay a someone and see what kind of a warranty on the work.
